Culture Night, Fri. 19th Sept., was celebrated in great style at Scully's Bar in New St.with an eclectic mix of music, song and dance. There was traditional music and sean-nós dancing, as we would expect in that famed establishment. There was also music and songs ranging from old standards to folk, from Cajun to ballads, a newly composed piece of music for oboe and violin and girl from Boherbue sang the blues. We were held spellbound by recitations, during which you could hear a pin drop, or in one case a tear drop. Bhí bia agus beor ann agus bhí danta as Gailinn ann. Wending their unwilling way home at the end of the night one straggler addressed another, “It was like a party”. And the reply: “It was a party!!”. Roll on 2015 !!!
